Bower Download

AI-powered documents, spreadsheets, slides and PDFs.

On your machine, with the model you choose. Every change lands in the real file — nothing else moves.

macOS 14 or later · Apple Silicon  ·  Windows 10 or 11

Three animated scenarios. In a spreadsheet, a portfolio is ranked by risk-adjusted return and one position is flagged as over its limit. In a document, a market section is written from an attached model, a scanned sector note and a web page, and a phrase is highlighted and replaced in the page itself. In a presentation, a workbook, a commentary document and last quarter's deck are read, and a board deck is built on that deck's own master.

The four editors

It edits the file.

Ask for a change and it happens in the file you already have open. No copying into a chat window, no fixing the numbering afterwards.

“Add a market section after the summary.”

The headings below renumber themselves. That numbering is the file’s own — Bower never rebuilt it.

“Variance by cost centre, and flag anything over 10%.”

It writes the formula, waits for the recalculation, then reads the answer back — so the divide-by-zero is caught before it says it’s done.

“Draft the Series A deck on our template.”

On the template already in the file. Every chart declares which cells it read, and any page it made worse goes back.

The app

Portfolio analysis. Inventory. Budgets. Board packs.

No list of supported tasks. If the work lives in a document, a sheet, a deck or a PDF, it is in scope.

Real screens, from the build on this page. Click one to open it full size.

A model, five sheets deep. CAC, payback, LTV and the ratio are the file's own formulas, recalculated by the app. The greens and reds are the workbook's own conditional formatting, rendered.

Ask on the sentence itself. Select a line and the request happens where you are reading — sharper, shorter, expanded. “Changes are marked for review.”

Two other files in one question. A workbook and a scanned rate card, kept for the conversation. The question spans all three; the answer lands in the one you have open.

Skills, so you stop repeating yourself. Type / and pick one. Standing instructions you wrote once, not again.

Somebody else's redlines, intact. Priya's deletion and insertion are real tracked revisions; Marcus's comment still anchors to its phrase. Both were there before Bower opened the file.

Connections

Your numbers live in six places.
The model shouldn't.

Ask once. It reads what you have already connected and builds the sheet — every figure pointing back at where it came from.

Skills you write once

“Normalise for one-offs first, then these eight ratios, sources in column F.” Say it once.

Type / to pick one. Sheets today; the other three can write one but not yet load it.

Bower decides only which of them the assistant may call.

Why this exists

The complaint is always the same.

Not about the writing. About what the tool did to the file on its way through.

“Prompts like reformat this document lead to de novo generation… which causes duplication, misplacement, or total overwrites.”

Moderator, Microsoft's own support forum

Renumbering after an AI edit is “the bane of my existence, and probably the biggest time-suck in my job.”

What it costs
Nothing for at least a year from the day you install it — everything, no limits. It will need a licence eventually, and the first 100 people to sign up keep it free for life. Bower has no inference bill of its own either: it runs on your own API key from any of nine providers, or on a model running on your own machine through any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. There is nothing for us to mark up.
Where your files go
Nowhere. They open, change and save on this machine. Only what you ask about is sent, to the provider you picked, and scanned PDFs are read on-device.
What installing takes
One download, then one right-click the first time you open it — the build isn't signed yet, so macOS asks. One download, then two prompts the first time. The browser flags it as uncommon: choose Keep. Then Windows asks: More info, then Run anyway. The build isn't signed yet, so both are expected.
Why not the Claude add-ins
If you have Microsoft 365 and live in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, use them — they are good. Bower is the editor itself, so there is no Office licence and no add-in. It reads files sitting on your disk, not only the one you have open. It opens PDFs. And it runs on whichever model you point it at, including one on this machine.
